BNP leaders Mintu, Selima get bail

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday granted bail to Abdul Awal Mintu, adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, and party vice-chairman Selima Rahman in a case.

Metropolitan Magistrate Maruf Hossain passed bail order to BNP adviser while Mahbubur Rahman granted bail to Selima Rahman in the afternoon.

Selima’s lawyer Sanaullah Mia said there is now no bar to be freed Selima as she was accused of in one case.

On the other hand, Mintu will not be freed from jail as four others cases are still going on against him.

On November 9, Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested BNP chairperson’s adviser Abdul Awal Mintu from his Gulshan residence.

Law enforcers held him from BNP chairperson’s Gulshan residence at around 1:00am.

On the other hand, BNP vice-chairman Selima Rahman was picked up by law enforcers.

Detectives held the BNP leader from her residence at Gulshan in the capital on January 7.
