DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Sunday rejected remand prayers for interrogating former BNP lawmaker Shammi Akter in a case filed for vandalizing and torching vehicles.
Metropolitan magistrate Hasibul Haque passed the order after hearing on the 5-day remand plea in the case by police.
On January 7, investigation officer of the case SI Amirul Islam filed the remand petition for interrogation.
On the other hand, Shammi’s lawyer Sanaullah Mia filed a bail plea.
The court also denied bail plea sought by the BNP leader’s lawyer.
On December 25, Shammi Akter was picked up by law enforcers from in front of BNP Chairperson Gulshan office in the capital.
