SC stays HC order on Fakhrul harass

DHAKA: The Supreme Court Thursday stayed a High Court order regarding not to arrest or harass BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir with new case.

The Appellate Division of the apex court led by Chief Justice M Muzammel Hossain has also granted government’s leave to appeal for hearing on February 18.

In the hearing session, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, on behave of prosecution, while Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali and Zainul Abedin for Mirza Fakhrul took part.

On January 16, the High Court bench of comprising Justice Borhanuddin and Justice KM Kamrul Kader directed the government not to arrest or harass in three cases without proper legal proceedings.

Later, prosecution pleaded to the apex court seeking stay order of the verdict passed by the HC on January 20.

Fakhrul appears before court in 4 cases
