Jamaat man killed in city

DHAKA: A city leader of Jamaat-e-Islami was killed as a bus rammed him during a clash between members of Jamaat-Shibir and police at Sangbadik road in city’s Pallabi area on Monday morning.

Belal Hossain, 50, was the Ameer of Jamaat’s Darus Salam Thana unit, banglanews correspondent reports.

Sources said Jamaat-Shibir men brought out a procession at around 8:00am in the area. The clash ensued when police had obstructed the procession, they added.

Jamaat-Shibir men tried to flee the scene when police opened fire around 20 rounds rubber bullets on them. At that time a bus knocked Belal down, leaving him dead on the spot, sources also said.

Pallabi Thana Officer-in-Charge Syed Ziauzzaman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
