DHAKA: The BNP-led 19-party alliance is set to hold protest rallies and processions in every thana units of the capital on Tuesday instead of Monday.
BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi disclosed the programe schedule in a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan party office around 11:30am.
Rizvi, however, did not mention the reason of the deferment in the briefing.
BNP-led 19-party alliance earlier declared to hold a protest rally at Suhrawardy Uddyan on February 1 for not allowing it to arrange rallies with black flags in the city on January 29.
Metropolitan Police (DMP) did not permit them to hold the rally on February 1 due to the inauguration of month-long ‘Amar Ekushe Grontho Mela (Book Fair)’.
Later, the alliance called fresh programmes for Sunday but due to the Akheri Munajat (final prayer) of second phase of Biswa Ijtema, the programme was shifted to Monday.
As the DMP did not permit 19-party to hold the rally, BNP joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi declared the new program on Monday.
