DHAKA: Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) initiated a drive in Patuakhali to look into the alleged exorbitant rise of wealth of Mahbubur Rahman, former state minister for water resource ministry.
ACC deputy director Khairul Huda, who has been leading the drive at Patuakhli district, confirmed the matter to banglanews24.com.
Sources of the investigation team said that ACC will send letters to district commissioner and land division office separately seeking Mahbubur Rahman’s total wealth integer.
In the same motive, the anti-graft body will also send letters to NBR and his family to prove his income tax details.
Mahbubur Rahaman was elected as uncontested lawmaker from Patuakhli-3 constituency in 10th national polls held on January 5.
The lawmaker’s affidavit, placed before EC, shows utterly exorbitant rise of wealth within five years comparing the previous affidavit of 9th National Polls.
Earlier on January 12, ACC took decision for inquiring into the phenomenal increase in wealth and assets of three former ministers, a state minister, and four lawmakers.
