Tarique Rahman condemns Awami supporters’ behaviour

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has condemned the behaviour of alleged Awami League supporters towards Asif Nazrul, the Interim Government’s Advisor on Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.

In a statement on Friday (Nov 8), Rahman said that some Awami League supporters acted with hostility and disrespect towards Asif Nazrul at Geneva Airport in Switzerland on his way to France on Thursday evening (local time).

Rahman criticized this behaviour, calling it “not only inappropriate but a severe insult to the dignity of the country and its people,” especially when directed at a government advisor on foreign soil.

He further said that such actions demonstrate the aggressive nature of “fascism,” alleging that Awami League supporters abroad also adopt this behavior, attacking democratic figures when possible.

He added that these actions reflect Awami League's “lack of belief in democracy, human rights, rule of law, and citizens' freedoms.”

He concluded by asserting that the aggressive behavior shown towards Asif Nazrul at Geneva Airport symbolizes the regime of oppression associated with Sheikh Hasina's government.
