Fakhrul urges cooperation with interim government

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on party members to cooperate with the interim government, urging patience as it undertakes necessary reforms to set the stage for a fair general election.

Speaking at an event organized by BNP's district unit on Tuesday (Nov 12) at a college ground in Lalmonirhat, Fakhrul emphasized the importance of the current situation in the country.

He said, “This is a chance to rebuild the nation. If we let it slip away, our very existence as a nation could be at risk,” he cautioned, urging his supporters to support the interim government.

Regarding recent appointments to the advisory council, Fakhrul expressed concerns, saying that adding more individuals could make the government appear more controversial. He described the interim government as a result of the people’s movement, pointing out that this administration is distinct from past caretaker governments since it arose during a national crisis.

He also criticized the previous Awami League government, accusing it of working to suppress BNP politics, filing cases against 60 individuals, and causing 700 enforced disappearances. He claimed the ousted government’s goal was to impose a one-party rule by using violent tactics against citizens.
