Advisers' appointment depends on CA: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said interim government advisers can be appointed as needed for necessary reforms without consulting political parties.

He said, "There are no specific rules for appointing an adviser in the interim government...The authority to select advisers lies entirely with the Chief Adviser."

Mirza Fakhrul was addressing a press conference at his Kalibari residence in Thakurgaon on Wednesday morning (Nov 13).

He also said: “Our main focus now is the upcoming election, about which we are still uncertain. The interim government remains in place, but it has yet to provide an election roadmap. They have formed a committee to reform the electoral system, and political parties have been asked to provide their opinions.”

Earlier in the day, he laid the foundation stone for BNP’s Thakurgaon district office.

The BNP Secretary General stressed the urgent need for a free, fair, and inclusive election in Bangladesh, highlighting that necessary reforms to the election process must be completed quickly to ensure a neutral environment.

“An elected government and a representative parliament are extremely important, and we have consistently emphasized this,” he said.
