KHULNA: An activist of Juba League, the youth wing of Awami League, was killed as Jamaat Shibir activists allegedly attacked on him over political dispute in Joygir Mahal area under Koyra upazila of the district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Shahbaj, Juba League activist of Amadi union and resident of the area.

Local sources said that he might have been killed by Jamaat-Shibir activists as he was locked into an altercation with them over elections around 9:30am. At one stage, Jamaat men attacked on him, leaving him injured critically.

However, Shahbaj succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Koyra Thana Fazlur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
