CHITTAGONG: Law enforcers arrested 27 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir, front organization of Jammat, on charges of creating violence in a drive at Lohagora upazila in the city on Sunday night.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) M Shahjahan of Lohagora Thana said they were shown arrested in different cases filed for creating violence and sabotage and two of them were accused of seven different cases.

Among them, Shihabuddin and Shahjahan are leader of Chhatra Shibir, OC added.

However, locals said, Jamaat-Shibir men were involved in violence and acts of sabotage at Satkania and Lohagora upazilas following the death penalty to their leader and war criminal Delawar Hossain Sayeedi on February 28 last year.
