SC cancels 5-BNP leaders’ bail

DHAKA: Appellate division of the Supreme Court Sunday cancelled the High Court order that granted bail to five BNP leaders including acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

Appellate division, led by Chief Justice M Mozammel Hossain, passed the order.

The four other BNP leaders are--standing committee member Mirza Abbas, joint secretary general Amanullah Aman, Dhaka metropolitan member secretary Abdus Salam, and Chhatra Dal leader Obaidullah Haque Nasir.

AJ Mohammad Ali and Sagir Hossain Leon moved for the BNP leaders in the court.

Deputy attorney general M Suhrawardy was the prosecutor.

On January 20, the High Court granted an 8-week bail to the five BNP leaders in separate cases.

Police filed three cases with Ramna Thana on Januray 3 this year, December 25 and December 1 in 2013 under Ant-Terrorism (amendment) Act.
