DHAKA: The voting in the third phase of upazila parishad elections will be held at 81 upazilas in 41 districts across the country on Saturday.

Army personnel were deployed on Thursday to keep the law-and-order situation normal in the election areas. They will stay till Sunday.

The polls were scheduled to be held at 83 upazilas but Election Commission had postponed polls in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district due to violence and polls in Fenchuganj of Sylhet district due the problem of area demarcation.

Elections Commissioner Abu Hafiz remarked about the deployment of army saying the army personnel have been cooperating poll officials. Their cooperation is playing an important role in holding election in free and fair manner.

The army will discharge their duties as in the previous elections, he added.
