DHAKA: Hefajat-e-Islam leader Maulana Sakhawat Zamil, also president of Jubo Hefajat, youth wing of the party, was freed on bail on Thursday noon.

Media cell member of Hefajat-e-Islam Imran Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Sakhawat was released on bail in six cases filed against him for his alleged involvement with killing cops, vandalizing police vehicles and obstructing them from discharging government duties on May 5, 2013.

On October 30, 2013, police arrested four Hefajat leaders, including their media cell Chief Ahalullah Wasel from Rampura area of the city.

Sakhawat was produced before the court showing arrested in two cases and three others were released after primary interrogation.
