COMILLA: Half-day hartal, called by BNP-led 19-party alliance, was observed in Chauddagram and Nangolkot upazilas in the district on Sunday.

The strike was called demanding the recount of ballot papers.

Police said that no untoward incident reported and the situation was under control.

Dhaka-Chittagong highway was as usual while BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists brought out a procession in Chandishkara area.

Party activists set fire to tire on the road in Miahbazar area.

Moreover, pro-hartal activities were not seen in Nangolkot area.

Uttam Kumar, Officer-in-Charge of Chauddagram Thana, told banglanews that traffic transportation was normal as the other days on Dhaka-Chittagong highway during the hartal.

Earlier, the alliance leaders alleged that the government made manipulation in third phase of upazila elections in six upazilas, including Chauddagram and Nangolkot on Saturday. In this connection, they announced hartal for Sunday.
