CHUADANGA: The half-day hartal (shutdown) called by Ruling Awami League, is underway at Damurhuda upazila in the district on Tuesday demanding cancellation of the polls result.

Local leaders of the party Imtiaz Hossain, Abu Taleb and Rinku, announced the hartal in a meeting at Damurdah Thana intersection on Monday evening.

The leaders urged to cancel the results of the third phase of the fourth upazila polls and also demanded the withdrawal of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Faridur Rahman within 48-hour.

However, additional law enforcers were deployed in the area to avert untoward situation.
