RAJSHAHI: A Rajshahi court on Thursday granted interim bail to BNP Joint Secretary General and Rajshahi Metropolitan unit president Mizanur Rahman Minu in cases filed for attempt to killing police.

Metropolitan Session Court Judge Ashraful Islam passed the order around 12:00pm after bail plea hearing.

Advocate Ali Ashraf Masum, the lawyer of Minu, confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Earlier on Tuesday, Rajshahi Metropolitan Chief Magistrate Court-1 ordered to send jail rejecting the bail petition.

According to the case statement, Khan Mohammad Shahriar, the then Inspector (investigation) of Boalia Model Police Station, sustained bullet wounds during a clash in the city’s Saheb Bazar Zero Point on June 4, 2011.

Later, police filed a case against Mizanur Rahman Minu and 131 others.

On February 23, another Rajshahi court sent Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul and Minu to jail in a police killing case.
