Re-polls to 14 centers Thursday

DHAKA: Election Commission will arrange re-elections for 14 postponed centers in six districts in the third phase upazila polls on March 27.

During the polls held on March 15, voting in 14 centers across the country was postponed due to violence, snatching ballots and other incidents.

The EC announced the schedule of re-voting to 14 out of the 32 postponed centers on Thursday.

The commission has already ordered local administration to take necessary preparations to ensure the re-polls in free and fair manner.

According to EC sources, a letter signed by Election Management and Coordination-2 assistant secretary Mohammad Ashfakur Rahman has sent to deputy commissioners of Chandpur, Lakshmipur, Kishoreganj, Barisal, Mymensingh and Comilla to appoint executive magistrates to hold re-elections in the postponed centers of the upazilas.

The re-elections will be held at two centers of Hajiganj upazila of Chandpur, one in Kamalnagar of Lakshmipur, one in Kuliarchar of Kishoreganj, three in Hijla of Barisal, three in Gauripur and three in Muktagacha upazilas of Mymensingh and one in Titas upazila of Comilla district.
