Magura BNP president among 17 sent to jail

MAGURA: A Magura court on Monday sent 17 leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal, including district BNP president Kabir Murad, to jail.

Magura senior judicial magistrate Abbas Uddin passed the order when they plead for bail release after appearing before the court.

District BNP President Kabir Murad is also training affairs secretary of the central committee and founder chairman of Kendriya Zia Parishad.

Law affairs secretary of district BNP Advocate Quazi Minhajuddin told banglanews that police filed three cases against 23 persons, including Kabir Murad, on January 8 on charge of attacking police, obstructing people from casting votes and creating panic among people on January 5.

On February 24, the defendants took one month anticipatory bail from the High Court, he added.

After the time is over, they appeared before the court and sought bail but the court sent them to the jail denying bail, he also said.
