Elected govt can solve crises

DHAKA: BNP Standing Committee Member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah said that the country is in deep political crises and a new elected government is needed badly to get rid of those crises.

He came up with the assertion while addressing a human chain in front of Jatiya Press Club in the city at 11:30am Friday.

Daudkandi Upazila Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Forum arranged the program on a demand of withdrawal of cases filed against BNP leaders including standing committee member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and immediate release of them.

Rafiqul Islam also said that there is alternative except demonstration to oust this undemocratic government. Movement means mass upsurge, he added.

He also claimed that there were a lot of allegations of vote manipulation in recent upazila polls. A fair poll is not possible in this government’s tenure, he added.

Rafiqul also mentioned that the BNP leaders and activists were tortured allegedly by the government.

Barrister Rafiqul further said that the cases against BNP Acting
Secretary-General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas and other leaders are fake and political vengeance.

He along with other senior leaders of the party spoke and took part in the human chain to meet their demands.
