DHAKA: The by-election to four municipalities in four districts will be held on April 5 and April 7, which became vacant as newly elected Members of the Parliament from the constituencies left the post.

According to Election Commission (EC) sources, the by-polls in Chaumahuni of Noakhali, Feni Sadar of Feni and Rohanpur of Chapainawabganj will be held on April 5.

Besides, the voting in Daulatkhan municipality of Bhola will be held on April 7.

The four Members of the Parliament (MP) of tenth national election are Mamunur Rashid (Noakhali-3), Nizam Uddin Hazari Azom (Feni-2), Golam Mostafa Biswas (Chapainawabganj-2) and Ali Azam (Bhola-2).

According to Municipal act 19/2 if anyone elected in any local government body and Member of the Parliament, he/she will be ineligible for the previous post. So, EC declared the mayor post vacant and announced schedule for the by-election.
