DHAKA: BNP, Jamaat and Awami League rebel candidates called daylong hartal for Tuesday in 11 upazilas alleging vote manipulation and demanding re-election of fifth phase of fourth upazila election in the areas.

The daylong hartal is called in Araihazar and Sadar of Narayanganj, Tala and Debhata of Satkhira, Barguna Sadar and Rangamati Sadar.

On the other hand a half-day hartal is called in Sadar and Alamdanga upazilas of Chuadanga and Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria, Barguna Sadar, Chhagalnaiya of Feni and Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj.

However, there was an allegation of vote rigging, capturing polling centers, casting fake vote and so on in the areas by the local leaders of BNP, Jamaat and AL rebel leaders.

Earlier, voting began at 8:00am and continued for eight hours without any break in 73 upazilas of 35 districts in fifth phase of elections on Monday amid stray incidents of violence.
