KHAGRACHHARI: Some nine Juba League leaders and activists of Ramgarh upazila and municipality were expelled for their involvement in demanding extortion after kidnapping an army man.

District Juba League Saturday expelled the leaders and activists, said a statement on Saturday morning.

The expelled are organizing secretary of upazila unit Juba League M Faruk Hossain, general secretary of municipality unit Juba League M Shamim, Ward No-8 Juba League President M Shipon, Ward No-4 president Sumon, Ward No-9 general secretary M Faruk and Publicity and Publication secretary M Milon, upazila Juba League member M Farid and M Nazrul and Wad No-9 Juba League member M Rubel.

Khagrachhari district Juba League president Jatan Kumar Tripura told banglanews that various media claimed that local Juba League men were involved with the abduction of Nantu, an army person, which tarnished the image of Juba League.

They were expelled after a direction from the central committee, he added.
