DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has decided to pay heed to root level politics instead of staging impractical programs.

Sources said that the BNP chief thought any wide-ranged demonstration programme would not be logical at this moment.

She would rather plan to increase the interaction to the mass people and the party leaders-activists in a bid to be prepared for next movement. Khaleda, moreover, is likely to develop relationship with the foreign envoys and promote intimacy with donor organizations, sources added.

BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy told banglanews, “All would have to be involved with the movement; the party chief will play the key role in this regard.”

“Khaleda always gives importance to grassroots leaders and activists, she will take preparation with all others,” he added.

BNP Barisal Division Organizing Secretary Mujibur Rahman Sarowar told banglanews that the mass are ready to cordially welcome Khaleda Zia in the division. She should visit the countrymen to restore the party men’s confidence, he added.

Rajshahi Division Organizing Secretary Harun-Ar-Rashid said, “We have been hearing about such progrmme, preparation will be increased, if we are confirmed, and we are always ready to make such programme successful.”

On condition of anonymity, a senior BNP leader said: “We are now concentrating on gaining public support rather the typical demonstration. We are working to draw support from home and abroad.”

The party sources further said, “Khaleda Zia is promised to regain the principles and ideology of party’s founder Ziaur Rahman.”

BNP is looking for restoring the supports of grassroot level leaders and activists. So that the party will be reorganized with the assistance of district and division level leaders, sources added.

The party chief along with other senior leaders is planning to visit and hold meetings in several upazilas and districts to set a good bonding and increase relationship with general people.

The party is accomplishing and getting ready with the support, suggestion and other strengths of root level leaders and activists.

BNP sources said that the preparation is underway to stage a huge anti-government demonstration in demand of a free and fair election under a caretaker government.
