THAKURGAON: Counting in Sadar Upazila polls is underway after voting ended at 4:00pm amid a peaceful and festive mood.

Earlier, voting began at 8:00am on Wednesday and continued till 4:00pm without any break.

The election in the upazila was scheduled to hold on March 31.

On March 19, High Court issued an order to suspend the voting to the upazila after a vice-chairman candidate, Alamgir Hossain, filed a writ petition challenging the decision of the authorities concerned to change and add some 28 new polling centres.

Later the Election Commission suspended voting in the upazila on March 30, a day ahead of the fifth phase of the upazila elections following a the court order.
