JHENAIDAH: District Jamaat called dawn-to-dusk hartal for Tuesday at Kotchandpur upazila protesting ‘killing’ of one ward counselor Hafej Abul Kalam.

Upazila Parishad Chairman and local Jamaat Amir Mawlana Tajul Islam made the hartal announcement at 4:30pm Monday at janaja of Hafej Abul Kalam.

Jamaat leader Tajul said, “A group of miscreants abducted Abul Kalam on Friday introducing them as police.”

He said that later the Jamaat leader was found dead at Mamunshia village under Sadar upazila of the district on Monday morning.

Police might dump the body after killing, he alleged.
