DHAKA: Law enforcers obstructed and foiled the human chain formed by Islamic Oikko Andolan in front of Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Friday morning.

Shahbagh Thana Police nabbed two activists of the organization for interrogation as police suspects the party is a faction of Hefajat-e-Islam.

Police sources said that they might have been linked with Hefajat-e-Islam. So, they were obstructed from forming human chain for the sake of safety and security of city dwellers, they added.

General Secretary of the party of Dhaka Mohanagar Dr Shakhwat Hossain said that police seized our banners, microphone and obstructed our program.

However, earlier in the morning the activists of the party formed a human chain in front of Jatiya Press Club titling “Stop river aggression of India”.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Officer-in-Charge of Shahbagh Thana Sirajul Islam said that lawmen dispersed the party activists from the place for security reason and additional law enforcers were deployed in the area to avert untoward situation.
