CHITTAGONG: Two popular football teams of India’s West Bengal ‘Kingfisher East Bengal’ and ‘Kotkata Mohammedan’ have reached Chittagong to take part in the upcoming Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup in the port city.
Organizers of the tournament received the players at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong Sunday noon.
However, the tournament, first of its kind in Bangladesh, will begin at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on Tuesday.
Chittagong Abahani Limited will organize the tournament with the assistance of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and patronization of Said Powertech.
Nine teams from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and host Bangladesh will take part two groups in the tournament.
Dhaka Abahani, Chittagong Abahani and Dhaka Mohammedan of Bangladesh; East Bengal and Kolkata Mohammedan of India; Solid FC of Sri Lanka; Shahin Asmayee Football Club and Afghan premier league champion De Spin Ghar Bazan of Afghanistan and Karachi Electric Club of Pakistan will participate in the tournament.
