DHAKA: Nepal secured their berth to the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup to be held in Bangladesh in 2016, defeating Ireland by three wickets at Kinrara Academy in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
Batting first, Ireland had posted a target of 185 runs in the final of ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier, reports the Himalayan Times.
With excellent performance by bowlers, Nepal restricted Ireland to 184 runs in 47.4 overs and met the target with 22 bowls to spare as they made 185/7 in 46.2 overs.
Left-arm spinner Lalit Rajbanshi was the pick of the Nepali bowlers with the figures of 10-1-36-4. He was declared the player of the match for his outstanding performance that was crucial for Nepal’s victory.
Aarif Sheikh claimed three wickets and Dipendra Singh Airee two.
For his consistent and all-round performance, Sheikh was awarded with the player of the series title.
