DHAKA: Bangladesh, who have already bagged the series, are facing the visiting Zimbabwe in the third and final One Day International (ODI) at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur Wednesday.
The hosts have scored 82 without loss of wicket in 18.1 overs with Imrul Kayes’s 41 runs off 55 balls and Tamim Iqbal’s 39 runs of 56 balls.
Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat in the day-night match that began at 1:00am (Bangladesh time).
This is the first time Bangladesh captain Mashrafe-bin Mortaza had won the toss this series. Both sides are unchanged.
Having won the second one-dayer, Bangladesh wants to achieve 3-0 series whitewash against Zimbabwe today.
Bangladesh whitewashed Zimbabwe 3-0 at home in December, 2014. Tigers then whitewashed Pakistan 3-0 at home.
Bangladesh then beat India 2-1 at home. Bangladesh then beat South Africa 2-1 at home. They have also qualified for the ICC Champion's Trophy.
Bangladesh previously whitewashed Zimbabwe back in 2006.
If Bangladesh whitewashes Zimbabwe today, it will be the sixth clean sweep in Tigers’ history.
Earlier in history, Bangladesh also whitewashed Kenya and New Zealand.
