DHAKA: Tigers whitewashed visiting Zimbabwe in 3-match One Day International (ODI) by winning the last match by 61 runs at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in city’s Mirpur area on Wednesday.
This was the 11th clean sweep in Tigers’ history.
In response to host’s 276-run, Zimbabwe lost all their wickets scoring only 215-run in 43.3-over.
Golden boy Mustafizur Rahman claimed yet another five-wicket in the match giving away only 34-run from eight overs. This was his third five for in just nine ODIs. His overall wicket tally is 26, so far.
Besides, Mashrafe Mortaza, Nasir Hossain, Al-Amin Hossain, Arafat Sunny and Sabbir Rahman took one wicket each.
Earlier, Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss in the series for the first time and chose to bat in the day-night match that began at 1:00pm (Bangladesh time).
The openers Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes provided the hosts a brisk start scoring 147-run in 29-over.
Before returning to pavilion, Kayes scored 73-run while Tamim continued upto 35th over. He also scored 73-run. Both fell to the trap of stamping.
Mahmudullah amassed 52-run off 40-ball, helped the team to cross 270-run mark. Besides, Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das and Mashrafe Mortaza took 28, 17 and 16 runs respectively.
Jongwe and Cremer took two wickets each while T Panyangara, Sikandar Raza and MN Waller took one wicket each.
Tamim Iqbal was adjudged man of the match.
Earlier in December, 2014, Tigers whitewashed Zimbabwe 3-0 series and then whitewashed Pakistan 3-0 at home.
