DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday denied the bail plea of cricketer Shahadat Hossain in a case filed over torturing a domestic help.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Qamrul Hossain Molla passed the order after hearing the bail petition filed by Shahadat’s lawyer Advocate Kazi Nazibullah Hiru.
He filed the bail plea to the session judge court as he was denied bail for two more times by CMM court.
On October 5, Shahadat surrendered to Dhaka CMM court and sought bail. Rejecting the bail plea, the court sent him to jail.
Later on October 8, Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Yusuf Hossian placed cricketer Shahadat Hossian Rajib on a three-day remand rejecting his bail petition.
On the other hand, another accused of the case, the cricketer’s wife, Jesmin Jahan Nitya, has already landed in jail.
The same court, on October 4, sent Nitya to jail rejecting a 5-day remand petition filed by police. Earlier on the day, Mirpur Model Thana police detained Nitya from city’s Malibagh area.
However, the court also asked the police to quiz her at jail gate for three days within five working days.
On September 6, an 11-year-old domestic help Mahfuza Akter Happy was found injured in Kalshi journalist residential area.
