DHAKA: In yet another last-ball thriller, Barisal Bulls beat Sylhet Super Stars by 1-run in the sixth match of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2015 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday night.
Winning the toss, Bulls captain Mahmudullah elected to bat first. Controlled bowling by the Super Stars, however, did not allow Bulls to pose a bigger target.
Bulls scored a meager 108 runs losing all wickets in 19.3 overs as none of their batsmen managed to secure 30 runs.
Even star players like Brendan Taylor and Mahmudullah went back to pavilion without reaching double-digit.
Nadif Chowdhury scored 24-run while Rony Talukdar, Sabbir Rahman, Shahriar Nafees took 20, 15 and 12 runs respectively.
Nazmul Islam bagged three wickets while Mohammad Shahid, FH Edwards, Subashis Roy and RS Bopara picked one wicket each.
In response, Super Stars were stuttering from the start. Al-Amin Hossain picked up the first hat-trick of BPL 2015 in the fourth over of the innings. He picked up five wickets while Taijul Islam took two wickets. Mohammad Sami took one wicket.
Sylhet were in the chase till Munaweera fell to Taijul’s trap. He scored 36-run before returning to pavilion.
Later, late order players like Nazmul Islam (16 off 14), Nazmul Hossain Milon (15 off 21), Owais Shah (11 off 29) and F Edwards (11 off 6) tried to chase down but to no avail. Super Stars could manage 107-run, their second 1-run loss in the tournament in as many matches.
Al-Amin Hossain, who took a hat-trick in his five-wicket haul, was the Man of the Match.
The Barisal Bulls are currently at the top spot in the Points Table.
