BPL #3 Match 12: Dhaka Dynamites Vs Sylhet Superstars Played on 27 November 2015
Dhaka Dynamites 166/6 (KC Sangakkara 75, Nasir Hossain 33, Mohammad Shahid 2/27) Beat Sylhet Superstars 132 All Out (Nurul Hasan 35*, Mushfiqur Rahim 23, Musharraf 3/15, Yasir Shah 2/24, Mustafiz 2/30, Abul Hasan 2/30) by 34 runs
Player of the Match: KC Sangakkara (Dhaka Dynamites)
Superstars are not yet shinning. They lost the first two matches by the barest of margin of 1 run, lost the third by 6. But yesterday they were comprehensively beaten by a much better and stronger side Dhaka Dynamites by 34 Runs. Their campaign in BPL #3 would be over unless they win all its matches in round one match from now on.
The task may not be easy. On a relatively batting friendly wicket they should have chased DD set target of 167. They were well on course at 4/65 by 11th over. But they lost wickets regularly losing the momentum. DD won it easy by 34 runs and further consolidated their position in point tally at number three.
Choosing to bat after winning the toss KC Sangakkara appeared in his prolific best. The younger opening pair Saikat and Shadman failed to deliver. But for a brief it was a pleasant site watching rookie Shadman matching few strokes with iconic Sangkkara.
In his 15 ball 15 Shadman played some delightful strokes, which were appreciated by the maestro as well. After the initial burst of Fiedel Edwards and Mohammad Shahid great Sangakkara took charge.
Some of his signature covers drives kept ringing the many times heard question “Why You Kumara left active international cricket so soon? “ Playing a high value innings of 75 in 56 deliveries he ensured that his team reaches a safer zone to defend.
Nasir finally got into his groove with a careful innings of 33 in 29 deliveries. On this wicket perhaps the score of 166/6 was at least 20 short. Mohammad Shahid with 2/27 was once again the peak of the pack for the Super stars.
Sylhet Superstars on the day appeared with their English recruits JJ Cobb and Robi Bopara. With Munaweera, Mushfique, Mominul there the target on yesterday’s wicket was definitely chasabale. Six of the top seven got in and promised but got out at wrong time. If even one of them could last longer it was possible to challenge the Dynamites set target.
True Dynamites have powerful destructive weapons in Mustafiz, Musharraf and Yasir Shah. But they did not look that threatening on the day. Superstars just did not have the light of the sun to reflect. Young Nurul Hasan (33*) tried but wickets around him feel like pack of cards. Last 5 wickets were blown away for only 15 runs.
Superstars digested another defeat their fourth in four meaning that their safari in BPL#3 is almost all but over. Sangakarra was the Man of the Match for his 56-ball 75.
In post-match summary the captains ideally summed up
KC Sangakkara

"When you are batting out in the middle, you are not captaining the side. It was a nice wicket to bat on. Nasir and Thirimanne played well in the middle. I thought everyone bowled well. Yasir and other spinners were good. The pacers too were brilliant with the new ball. It is a good team performance. There are a couple of things we need to work on. One is fielding and also we need to throw better, especially when there is a bit of dew. Fielding awareness is another factor we need to work on. In fact, when you win, you sometimes forget that you need to work on other areas. But the boys have been very good today."

"I thought the wicket was good to bat. However, we gave away too many runs in the end overs. Unfortunately, we also kept losing wickets and that cost us the game. Hopefully, we can apply better in Chittagong. Hopefully, our top-order can click at some point of time. It is BPL and we can't take too much time (to get ourselves going). I thought Sangakkara played a brilliant knock. We look to do well in Chittagong."
