DHAKA: Bangladesh have qualified to the knockout stage of Bangabandhu Gold Cup after drawing their group stage match against Felda United FC of Malaysia at Bangabandhu National Stadium in city Wednesday night.

It had been a fascinating and ultimately frantic match where both teams showed fighting spirit from the very beginning.

Despite some chances, no team, however, managed to score in the first half though Bangladesh had better ball possession rate.

M Azman scored for Felda United FC on 55th minute of the match to take the lead. Mithun Chowdhury scored the equalizer on 76th minute helping Bangladesh to play in the knock out stage.

The Bangabandhu Cup or Bangabandhu Gold Cup is an international association football tournament organised by the Bangladesh Football Federation as a tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

It was launched in 1996. This is the fourth time the tournament has been held. Eight teams from Asian Football Confederation are participating in this edition.
