DHAKA: ICC World Twenty20 India 2016 trophy arrived in Bangladesh on Thursday (January 14) as part of its global journey titled ‘Nissan Trophy Tour’.
The trophy reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in city by an Emirates flight this morning.
The prestigious silverware was then taken to the Bashundhara City Shopping Mall on Panthapath around 4:30pm to display for cricket fans and commoners.
It will also be displayed for all from 10:00am to 3:00pm on Friday. Then the trophy will leave for Sri Lanka (17-18 January).
Crazy cricket fans and general public are utilizing the opportunity to have a close glimpse of the glittering trophy and have a snap or selfie with it.
Bangladesh Cricket Board collaborates with country’s leading conglomerate Bashundhara Group to arrange this event for the cricket fans in country.
TIM Latiful Husain, Senior Adviser (technical) to the Chairman of Bashundhara Group and In-charge of Bashundhara City Development Limited, at a press briefing said that previously, ‘Bashundhara City arranged the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Trophy Tour and ICC T20 World Cup 2014 Trophy Tour with highest safety and security which was maintained by Bashundhara Group security and government officials’.
However, the ICC World Twenty20 trophy is visiting 12 countries which are taking part in the tournament.
The sixth edition of the event will be staged in India from 11 March to 3 April 2016.
