DHAKA: Bangladesh Under-19 have had an wonderful preparation for the upcoming ICC Under19 Cricket World Cup 2016 as they beat the visiting West Indies U19 in the third and final Youth ODI of the 3-match series on Saturday.
Winning the toss, Bangladesh Under-19 captain Mehedi Hasan Miraz chose to bat first in the match that was played at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
Bangladesh scored a challenging total of 235-run losing seven wickets in their 50-over quota. Opener Saif Hassan hit 107-run off 147-ball, with the help of 11 4’s and three 6’s.
Besides, Shafiul Hayet took 61-run. OF Smith, KA Kallicharan and GD Pope took two wickets each for West Indies.
In response, West Indies had a good start. Their openers -- TA Imlach (38) and GD Pope (57) -- scored 82-run partnership in 13-over. But, it was the young tiger bowlers who prevailed finally.
Sanjit Saha picked up five wickets giving away only 21-run in his 10-over. Besides, Abdul Halim, Saeed Sarkar, Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Ariful Islam took one wicket each.
West Indies youth managed to score 219-run from 49.5-over losing all wickets.
Sanjit Saha was the Player of the Match and Saif Hassan was adjudged the Player of the Series.
