DHAKA: Bangladesh youth beat England youth by 97-run in the ICC Under-19 World Cup Warm-up Match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Monday.
While chasing Bangladesh youths’ set 247-run target, England youths managed to score a meager 149-run losing all wickets after 48.1-over.
BJ Taylor scored 41-run while CJ Taylor, SM Curran, JD Warner and MS Crane took 36, 29, 16 and 12 runs respectively.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Mehedi Hasan Rana picked up three wickets each. Besides, Mohammad Saifuddin took two wickets while Saleh Ahmed Shawon and Ariful Islam took one wicket each.
Earlier, junior tigers’ captain Mehedi Hasan Miraz won the toss and decided to bat first in the warm-up match that began at 9:30am.
They scored 246 runs losing eight wickets in their 50-over quota. Shafiul Hayet was the top scorer. He hit 68-run while Mohammad Saifuddin, Jaker Ali, Zakir Hasan and Joyraz Sheik took 46, 36, 24 and 22 runs.
England bowlers S Mahmood, BJ Taylor and DW Lawrence bagged two wickets each and MDE Holden took one wicket.
