DHAKA: West Indies Under-19s have scored 84 runs for two in 17.5 over in the seventh match of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Friday (January 29).
Chasing 283-run target set by England, West Indies required another 199 runs with 8 wickets and 32.1 overs remaining
England Under-19s scored 282 runs for seven wickets in 50.0 overs.
DW Lawrence (55 off 65 balls), JTA Burnham ( 44 off 72 balls) CJ Taylor (59 off 74 balls) GA Bartlett (48 off 67 balls) SM Curran (39 off 46 balls) helped England set the big target for West Indies.
England Under-19s won the toss and elected to bat in the Group C match that started at 9:00am in Chittagong.
It is the West Indies' opening game of the tournament and England's second after having played Fiji on January 27.
England have just one victory from their 10 appearances in Under-19 World Cups and that was way back in 1998. They would be inching to repeat the feat this time after a gap of 18 years.
English hoped that their journey is to start with a victory while West Indies, who have never won an Under-19 World Cup so far, are trying their best to turn around the tables this time.
West Indies were runners-up in the 2014 Under-19 World Cup.
