DHAKA: England Under-19s beat West Indies Under-19s by 61-run in the seventh match of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Friday (January 29).
Winning the toss England Under-19s captain BJ Taylor elected to bat first in the Group C match that started at 9:00am here in the port city.
They scored 282 runs for seven wickets in their 50-over quota. DW Lawrence’s 55 off 65 balls, JTA Burnham’s 44 off 72 balls, CJ Taylor’s 59 off 74 balls, GA Bartlett’s 48 off 67 balls and SM Curran’s 39 off 46 balls helped England set the target.
GD Pope took two wickets while AS Joseph, MO Frew, SK Springer and KMA Paul picked up one wicket each.
Chasing 283-run target, West Indies managed to score 221-run losing all wickets from 43.4-over. Opener GD Pope hit 60-run and middle order batsman KMA Paul took 65.
S Mahmood picked up four wickets for England. Besides, SM Curran and DW Lawrence took two wickets each.
It is the West Indies' opening game of the tournament and England's second after having beaten Fiji on January 27.
