Bangladesh pose 257-run target

DHAKA: Bangladesh Under 19s have posed a challenging target of 257-run for Scotland Under-19s in the 14th Match of ICC Under-19 World Cup at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday (January 31).

Earlier in the day, Scotland Under-19s won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first in the Group A match that kicked off at 9:00 in the morning.

Tigers started their innings very slowly and Scotland pegged them back with some early wickets. But thanks to the unbeaten hundred from Nazmul Hossain that took the total to a tough one to chase down. He made 113 runs off 117 balls with the help of 10 4’s.

This century made Nazmul Hossain the most run getter in the youth one day internationals. He amassed 1,734 runs in the youth level.

Saif Hassan missed fifty (49) but played a good role to build the base of the innings. Colt captain Mehedi Miraj was very good with the bat too. He hit 51 off 49 ball. In the end it was Saeed Sarkar who provided the late flourish playing a cameo of 16 runs from 6-ball.

Scotland started brightly with the ball, particularly Mohammad Ghaffar who picked up four wickets but after that they started losing control. Besides, RG Brown and MD Rao took one wicket each.

Bangladesh Under-19s have won the first match against defending champion South Africa Under 19s whereas Scotland lost to Namibia.
