DHAKA: West Indies Under-19s beat Fiji Under-19s by 262-run in the 16th Match of ICC Under-19 World Cup at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on Sunday (January 31).
Winning the toss, Fiji Under-19s captain S Tuitoga invited West Indies to bat first in the Group C match that began at 9:00am.
The West Indies youth amassed a huge total of 340-run losing seven wickets from their 50-over.
Openers -- GD Pope and TA Imlach -- provided a flying start scoring 120-run in 17.3 over. Pope hit 76 and Imlach took 36 runs. Later, SK Springer hit 106-run off 78-ball while JU Goolie took 66 runs.
Zimbabwe’s C Tikoisuva picked up six wickets giving away 59 runs. Besides, V Kapadia took one wicket.
Both West Indies U-19s and Fiji U-19s lost their first matches to England and Zimbabwe respectively.
In response, Fiji Under-19s could score 78-run only from 27.3-over. Only two batsmen -- PV Vuniwaqa (29) and S Tuitoga (12) -- could manage double digit score.
GD Pope picked up four wickets. Besides, AS Joseph and KA Kallicharan took three and two wickets respectively.
