Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 23 runs

DHAKA: Pakistan have won the 24th Match by 23 runs against Sri Lanka Under-19s of ICC Under-19 World Cup at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in Dhaka on Wednesday (February 3).

Chasing 213-run target set by Pakistan, Lankan players all out scoring 189 runs in 46.4 overs.

Shadab Khan bagged three wickets while Sameen Gul, Hasan Mohsin, and Ahmad Shafiq picked up two wickets each for Pakistan.  Hasan Mohsin is the man of the match.

Pakistan finish top of Group B. They will face West Indies in the quarter-finals, and Sri Lanka will meet England.

Earlier, Pakistan Under-19s scored only 212-run losing all wickets from 48.4-over

Winning the toss, Sri Lanka Under-19s captain KIC Asalanka elected to field first in the Group B match that which kicked off at 9:00am local time.

Lankans started bowling under foggy conditions, but then one of their seamers had a very poor day and bowled only two overs. The spinners stepped up and their accuracy was impeccable.

SHTN Nimesh, PWH de Silva and BADN Silva took two wickets each while KIC Asalanka and AM Fernando picked up one wicket each.

Of the Pakistan batsmen, Hasan Mohsin hit 86-run. Besides, Salman Fayyaz, Mohammad Umar and Saif Badar scored 33, 26 and 24 runs respectively.

Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka have entered the quarter finals of the tournament. This match, however, will determine the group champion.

The first quarter-final, Bangladesh v Nepal, will be played tomorrow.
