DHAKA: Bangladesh Under-19s have scored 226-run losing all wickets from their 50-over quota against West Indies Under-19s in the second semi-final of ICC Under-19 World Cup at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in city on Thursday (February 11).
This is far more than what seemed possible when the cubs lost five early wickets on 113-run in 27.1-over but a little less than what was probable when Mehidy Hasan and Safiuddin were batting.
Mehidy Hasan played a brilliant match-saving 60-run off 74 balls while Saifuddin hit 36. Besides, Joyraz Sheik, Zakir Hasan, Mosabbek Hossain, Saif Hassan and Mehedi Hasan Rana scored 35, 24, 14, 10 and 10 runs respectively.
KMA Paul picked up three wickets while CK Holder and SK Springer took two wickets each. Besides, AS Joseph and RD John took one wicket each.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh U-19 captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz won the toss and decided to bat first in the all important match that began at 9:00am local time.
This is the first ever semi-final match of Bangladesh in any form of ICC event.
