DHAKA: Bangladesh have secured the third place beating Sri Lanka by three wickets in the third place play-off of ICC Under-19 World Cup at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah of Narayanganj on Saturday (February 13).
Earlier, Sri Lanka Under-19s captain Charith Asalanka won the toss and elected to bat first in the match that began at 9:00am.
The Lankans scored 214-run losing all wickets from 48.5-over. KIC Asalanka, PHKD Mendis, MSU Pereira, S Ashan and PWH de Silva scored 76, 26, 34, 27 and 30 runs respectively.
Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz bagged three wickets while Mohammd Saifuddin and Abdul Halim picked two wickets each for Bangladesh.
In response, Tiger cubs chased down the target losing seven wickets in 49.3-over. Bangladesh scored 218-run. After picking up three wickets in bowling, Miraz scored a match saving 53-run.
Besides, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Jaker Ali, Joyraz Sheik, Shafiul Hayet, Mohammad Saifuddin and Mosabbek Hossain took 40, 31, 26, 21, 19 and 11 runs respectively.
S Ashan took two wickets while AM Fernando and BADN Silva bagged one wicket each.
Miraz was adjudged player of the match for his all-round performance.
