Thitiphun wins Bashundhara Bangladesh Open

DHAKA: Thailand's Thitiphun Chuayprakong won the ‘Bashundhara Bangladesh Open’ golf tournament-2016 as the topper of Asian Tour title at Kurmitola Golf Club on Saturday (February 13).

The overnight leader 23-year-old Thai had a two-shot advantage heading into the final round, carded a six-under-par 65 to maintain his fine form.

The USD 300,000 Bashundhara Bangladesh Open was inaugurated in the morning on February 10.

Bashundhara Group, leading business conglomerate of the country, provided the prize money and the bear expenses for organizing the tournament.

Head of HR and Adviser (Public Relations) of Bashundhara Group Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Khandaker Abdul Wahed was present in the inauguration program.

Of the Bangladesh golfers, who participated in the tournament, Shakhawat Sohel placed sixth while country’s top golfer Siddiqur Rahman jointly placed 35th position.

Of the 31 golfers from Bangladesh, five were progressed into the third round while 26 failed to progress missing the cut.

Three other golfers of Bangladesh were Jamal Hossain, Abdul Matin and M Saimum.

A total of 138 golfers from 35 countries participated in the Asian Tour title.
