DHAKA: India have progressed into the final of Asia Cup 2016 by beating Sri Lanka by five wickets with four balls to spare in the seventh match of the tournament at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in city on Tuesday (March 1).
Winning the toss, India’s captain MS Dhoni invited Lankans to bat first on a slightly greenish track.
Sri Lanka lost three wickets within 6.1-over scoring only 31-run. However, CK Kapugedera, TAM Siriwardana, AD Mathews, TM Dilshan, NLTC Perera and KMDN Kulasekara scored 30, 22, 18, 18, 17 and 13 runs helping the team score 138-run.
JJ Bumrah, HH Pandya and R Ashwin picked up two wickets each while A Nehra took one.
In response, India chased down the target in 19.2-over. V Kohli hit 56-run while Yuvraj Singh took 35-run from 18 balls.
Of the Lankan bowlers, KMDN Kulasekara picked up two wickets while NLTC Perera, HMRKB Herath and MD Shanaka took one wicket each.
India had brought one change in their team, Shekhar Dhawan in replacing Ajinkya Rahane.
