DHAKA: Underdogs Oman beat stronger Ireland in the 4th Match of the first round Group A match of ICC World T20 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala of India on Wednesday (March 9).
Ireland captain WTS Porterfield won the toss and chose to bat first on two paced Dharamsala wicket.
They scored a fighting 154-run losing five wickets from their 20-over quota.
WTS Porterfield, PR Stirling, GC Wilson, NJ O’Brien and KJ O’Brien scored 29, 29, 38, 16 and 14 runs respectively.
Of the Oman bowlers, M Ansari picked up three wickets while Aamir Kaleem and Khawar Ali took one wicket each.
In response, Oman chased down the target scoring 157-run losing eight wickets from 19.4-over.
Zeeshan Maqsood, Khawar Ali, Jatinder Singh and Amir Ali hit 38, 34, 24 and 32 runs for the winning team.
KJ O'Brien, AR McBrine and MC Sorensen picked up two wickets each for Ireland.
Bangladesh will face Ireland in their next match on March 11 (Friday) and Oman on March 13 (Sunday).
