DHAKA: Bangladesh and Ireland shared one point each in the washed-out 8th match of first round Group A of ICC World T20 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala of India on Friday (March 11).
Now, Tigers’ match against Oman on March 13 (Sunday) will decide who will qualify for the main event of the T20 World Cup.
Ireland, however, were knocked out of the World T20, after persistent rain washout the match against Bangladesh.
Play was called off at 10:20pm local time after rain had stopped the game after 8-over in the Bangladesh innings.
The rain-affected match started at 9:45pm but relentless rain had the upper hand here.
Earlier, Ireland captain WTS Porterfield won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first in the 12-over a-side match.
Tiger openers -- Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar -- tore apart the Irish bowling attack. Tamim was the main oppressor. He scored 47-run off 26-ball and was out just before the rain started and ended the game.
Soumya, however, was first to go back to pavilion. He scored 20-run while Sabbir was on the crease with 13 off 9-ball. Bangladesh scored 94-run losing two wickets after 8-over.
