DHAKA: Mustafizur Rahman's five-for restricted NZ to 145/8 but Bangladesh batting fell apart against Kiwi bowlers and were bowled out for 70 in 15.4 overs.
New Zealand, which remained unbeaten, won by 75 runs at Eden Gardens of Kolkata in India on Saturday (March 26) and now topped in their group.
This was the most depressing batting performance by Bangladesh in the tournament. After a brilliant bowling performance from Mustafizur, their batsmen have disappointed them badly.
Earlier, Mustafizur Rahman took five wicket haul but Kane Williamson's 42 and Colin Munro's 35 helped New Zealand manage a fighting total at the Eden Gardens.
He bowled MJ Santner for 3 and Nathan MvCullum went for a golden duck. He was on a hat-trick.
Opting to bat, openers gave New Zealand a good start before Mustafizur dismissed Henry Nicholls (7) in the fourth over and Kane Williamson (42) in the ninth.
After having a successful first over, Mustafizur started his second over with a dot ball followed by a single. Williamson played him over extra-cover boundary.
Earlier, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bat first in the 28th Match.
